Tourism spending to 'hit 134 billion baht'

The government is confident tourism will grow strongly during Songkran in the week of last week, with tourism spending expected to hit 134 billion baht this year, the highest since 2020.
Deputy government spokesman Anukul Prueksasaksuk yesterday cited findings from a consumer behaviour study by the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce.
He said the results showed spend-ing during the Songkran holiday is pro-jected to increase 4.29% to 36 billion baht, up from 34.5 billion baht.
The figure would mark the highest level of spending since 2020 when 69 billion baht was spent, he said. The finding comes despite public anxieties about the recent earthquake which have been observed overseas.
