Top legal activist dies, 77

The activist and former senator, Jon Ungphakorn, has died peacefully at home at the age of 77, the Prachathai news agency announced yesterday.

Jon was the co-founder of Prachathai and iLaw (Internet Dialogue for Law Reform), a non-governmental organisation advocating freedom and democracy.
"The idea of starting a newspaper [Prachathai] has been around for quite some time. If you ask whether there was a specific incident that motivated me to get involved in the media, I wouldn't say there was a clear-cut event.
