'Scam boss' escapes arrest

The Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB) launched raids in 19 locations across Bangkok, Samut Prakan, and Chon Buri yesterday, following an arrest warrant issued by the Criminal Court for Kok An, a Cambodian businessman with alleged ties to Hun Sen, the Senate president of the neighbouring nation.
Kok An is accused of supporting scam operations in Poipet, a Cambodian border town.
The crackdown, spearheaded by CCIB commissioner Pol Lt Gen Trairong Phiwphan, followed an order from suspended Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra to act against transnational scam syndicates operating from Cambodia.
The focus was on assets and properties connected to Kok An, 71, believed to be used as bases for international scam networks.
Authorities seized several luxury vehicles and 27 million baht in cash.
