Referendum plan for MoUs under fire

Political activists have voiced opposition to the government's plan to hold a referendum on the fate of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) 2000 and 2001 between Thailand and Cambodia.
Dr Warong Dechgitvigrom, leader of the Thai Pakdee Party, posted on Facebook yesterday praising the government's policy statement, particularly its stance against legalising gambling.
However, he stressed that Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul must take stronger action on national security, especially regarding the controversial MoUs 2000 and 2001.
According to Dr Warong, Cambodia has repeatedly violated the agreements, rendering them meaningless. He criticised the government's plan to hold a national referendum on whether to revoke the MoUs, calling it a waste of public funds.
