Patek Philippe's Gondolo Serata Zebra celebrates the iconic African animal
Committed to preserving rare handcrafts, Patek Philippe dedicates an annual collection that showcases the virtuosity of its artisans at the manufacture in the outskirts of Geneva.
In parallel, the family-owned company embraces innovative techniques to elevate the aesthetic of its watches.
This is exemplified by the Gondolo Serata Zebra, released last October as a gem-set dress watch powered by a quartz calibre.
The original motif with an interplay of black-and-white stripes and a zebra in the foreground was crafted in cloisonné enamel for a limited-edition Golden Ellipse wristwatch from the 2022 Rare Handcrafts Collection.
Patek Philippe also employed the ancestral technique, involving the use of gold wires to outline the design before the enamelling, to decorate a one-of-a-kind pocket watch with the dial and caseback featuring two other motifs, respectively a dazzle of zebras and a striped pattern.
