Minister ‘won’t meddle’ in land dispute

Newly appointed Justice Minister Pol Lt Gen Rutthapon Naowarat has strongly denied any role in the Khao Kradong land dispute or alleged collusion in the Senate election, insisting both matters fall under judicial review and are beyond his influence.
He reiterated that the disputes must be resolved through legal processes, stressing his commitment to neutrality. Any interference, he warned, could trigger complaints to the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) or even lead to suspension from duty.
Speaking yesterday after outlining six policy priorities to ministry officials, including backing royal initiative projects, tackling online gambling, and strengthening narcotics control, the minister clarified that neither the land dispute nor the Senate case were raised during the meeting.
The Khao Kradong case centres on conflicting claims between the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) and the Department of Lands.
