Thai faces Shi in final, champ An bows out

Kunlavut earns a crack at title

Defending champion Kunlavut Vitidsarn moved a step closer to winning back-to-back titles after reaching the men’s singles final of the Badminton World Championship 2025 in Paris on Saturday night.

The Thai third seed was scheduled to meet top seed and world No.1 Shi Yuqi of China in the title decider at the Adidas Arena in Paris last night.

Kunlavut, the 2023 winner, overcame Danish second seed Anders Antonsen 21-17, 21-15 in the semifinals.

“Shi is the world No.1 and I have a lot to learn from him,” said Kunlavut, who lost last year's Olympic Games final in the same venue. “[It’s a] very good arena and very nice place. Tomorrow [Sunday] I go to the final again and I hope to try my best.”
