King Charles rolls out red carpet for Macron

Chicken Supreme cooked by chef Raymond Blanc, French champagne, music royalty in the form of Elton John and Mick Jagger: King Charles III pulled out all the stops on Tuesday to welcome France's president.

At a state banquet in Windsor Castle in honour of Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte, British pageantry fused with French refinement to mark the first night of the couple's three-day visit.
Approximately 160 invited guests and British royals graced one long table laid out in St George’s Hall, a monumental reception room within the famous castle.
According to the seating plan, Charles III was to be seated between French Culture Minister Rachida Dati and Macron.
Catherine, Princess of Wales, who recently cancelled her attendance at the Royal Ascot horse races, was to sit to the right of the French president.
Across from them, Queen Camilla, flanked by French Defence Minister Sebastien Lecornu and Brigitte Macron.
