The latest accusation involving Pol Gen Surachate “Big Joke” Hakparn is causing considerable harm to the image of justice and the law enforcement system in Thailand.

Pol Gen Surachate is accused of giving gold bars — valued at some 10 million baht — to a commissioner of the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) to clear him of corruption and malpractice charges related to an illegal online gambling site.
Despite the report being just an accusation and with the state attorney has yet to decide whether to send the case to court, the onus still falls on the NACC to clear the air.
The case stems from police allegations that on Sept 1, 2024, Pol Gen Surachate ordered a subordinate to deliver 246 baht-weight of gold bars to an NACC commissioner at the Southern Thai Association on Kanchanaphisek Road in Bangkok.
