Interim govt ploughing ahead with Land Bridge

The Anutin administration will proceed with the Land Bridge megaproject despite it only being expected to stay in office for four months, says incoming Deputy Prime Minister and Transport Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn.
Mr Phiphat's confirmation came as the Bhumjaithai Party (BJT), led by Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, welcomed new members from the United Thai Nation Party (UTN). The infusion of new talent was thanks to Chumpol Junsai, a former Democrat Party MP for Chumphon who later moved to UTN, and has now left again for BJT. Chumphon is a southern province where a deep sea port, part of the Land Bridge project, would be built. Mr Phiphat said Mr Anutin has confirmed the plan will proceed. The project was conceived when former transport minister Saksayam Chidchob, a former BJT MP, was in office.
