Army defends border actions

The Royal Thai Army has dismissed Cambodia's protest accusing Thai troops of violating its sovereignty along the border, insisting all operations are conducted within Thai territory and in line with a ceasefire agreement reached on Dec 27 last year.

Cambodia has recently lodged protests over what it described as encroachment by Thai forces in several areas following the Dec 27 ceasefire, including near Ta Muen Thom temple and sites in Preah Vihear and Oddar Meanchey.
It also claimed Thai authorities, accompanied by monks, had erected structures and placed Buddha statues at multiple sites it considers to be within Cambodian territory.
