Amlo deals with high-profile cases

The Anti-Money Laundering Office (Amlo) yesterday announced the results of its first transaction committee meeting of the year, revealing asset seizures and forfeitures linked to narcotics, corruption, fraud and online gambling cases, worth 252 million baht in major cases.
The meeting was held on Monday. It decided to take action against assets connected to serious offences, including narcotics trafficking, corruption by state officials, public fraud, habitual fraud, online gambling and other related crimes.
In total, 974 assets across 16 cases were seized or frozen.
Among the notable cases was a northern border drug trafficking network led by a man named as Sitthipong and his associates, where assets worth about 2 million baht were confiscated.
Another major case involved the former Wat Phra Bat Nam Phu abbot, known as Alongkot Phonmuk and his associates.
