140 families flee as factory fire rages

Thick smoke sparks health concerns
More than 140 families were evacuated as a fire at a large furniture factory in Bangkok's Lat Krabang district raged on yesterday, sparking health fears, authorities said.
The blaze at a “Furniture Kings” factory that erupted on Sunday evening continued for more than ten hours, causing extensive damage to the property and affecting communities within a five to ten kilometre radius.
More than 140 families were evacuated due to heat and smoke from burning plastic. Some went to stay with relatives, while others took temporary shelter at Wat Lampong School, Wat Thippawat, a nursery in the Wat Thippawat community and the auditorium at the Lat Krabang Industrial Estate. Some of them had also asked rescue workers to save their pets.
