12 frontier hospitals close amid clashes

Twelve hospitals along the Thai-Cambodian border have been closed amid renewed clashes between the two countries, the Public Health Ministry said yesterday.
They comprise four in Sa Kaeo, three in Ubon Ratchathani, two each in Si Sa Ket and Surin, and one in Buri Ram.
In addition, 198 primary healthcare facilities have also been temporarily shut, while eight hospitals near the border have partially suspended services.
Deputy Permanent Secretary for Public Health, Dr Ekachai Piensriwatchara, said the decision was made to ensure patients' safety amid continued shelling and nighttime raids.
