Cumnock Tryst founder makes shortlist with lauded composers
Ayrshire-born music maestro James MacMillan CBE is one of three Scottish composers to be nominated for an Ivor Novello Award at this year's Ivors Classical Awards.
The Cumnock Tryst founder and artistic director, who has been nominated twice for the award, joins Lucie Treacher and Helen Grime on the shortlist.
MacMillan, aged 66, who was born in Kilwinning and grew up in Cumnock, has been nominated with two entries, both in the Best Orchestral Composition category.
The first is his 'Concerto for Orchestra, a co-commission from six orchestras across London, Australia, New Zealand, Sweden, America and Singapore.
Its world premiere was by the London Symphony Orchestra last September at The Barbican Centre.
