Waste site 'in poor condition' could be upgraded in proposals

WASTE facilities in a Surrey borough are set for a major upgrade that will see an existing depot upgraded to allow for an additional 40,000 tonnes of bulking capacity at the site.

Surrey Heath Borough Council (SHBC) has said these plans, which were due to be discussed during an upcoming executive meeting, focus on the waste collection depot at Doman Road in Camberley.
Currently, the depot is operated by Amey on behalf of the borough council, but these plans would see a section of the existing site leased to Surrey County Council (SCC) as the Waste Disposal Authority, for redevelopment into a modernised and upgraded Waste Transfer Station.
According to the borough council, this redevelopment would provide an additional 40,000 tonnes of bulking capacity to the waste network in the area.
