Plan for food waste pick-up across county is approved
Aldershot News and Mail
|July 02, 2025
HAMPSHIRE County Council has approved proposals to introduce household food waste collections across the county.
-
Between 30,000 and 50,000 tonnes of food waste will be collected every year and processed at two specialist facilities.
The initiative was approved at the council's executive lead member for universal services decision day on June 23, and is in line with the Government's simpler recycling guidance, which requires all waste collection authorities to implement kerbside food waste collections by April of next year.
In Hampshire, these authorities include district and borough councils as well as the unitary authorities of Portsmouth and Southampton.
