It is time to have a say on council changes

LEADER OF RUSHMOOR BOROUGH COUNCIL
DON'T know if you have heard, but big changes are happening in the way your councils are run, and soon you will have the chance to have your say on how these changes should be shaped.
Subject to consultation, next year we will be electing a Mayor for the whole region covering Hampshire and the Solent, and in 2027 new councils will be elected to replace both district councils (including Rushmoor) and Hampshire County Council.
One of these new 'unitary' councils would take full responsibility for services in this area from April 2028. Why so much change and what does it mean for residents?
In my view, these changes are needed to bring services closer to local people and give us more effective councils that respond to local needs. Let me explain why.
Of all the letters and emails I get as a councillor, the largest number are about public roads and pavements.
