Football field vandal attack condemned

A Monklands football team have hit out at thoughtless vandals who wrecked their football pitch by driving a car over it.

Players and coaches from Greengairs YFC have been left angered after the vehicle ripped up the pitch which had taken months to restore.

The incident, which took place on Wednesday, September 24, means the club’s 2010 side with no home pitch for the foreseeable future.

In a post on social media, Greengairs stated: “Over the past 12 weeks, our coaches, players, parents, and friends have worked tirelessly to restore the long-neglected football park back to a playable condition. In recent weeks, our under-16s have proudly hosted both League Cup and A Division fixtures there.
