Women’s second shot at winning silverware
Accrington Observer
|May 02, 2025
ACCRINGTON Stanley Women are gearing up for a thrilling finale to their season as they prepare to contest the Alliance Design & Print Cup final this Sunday.
The team will face Mancunian Unity Women at the Vauxhall Motors Sports Club in Ellesmere Port, with kick-off scheduled for 4pm. This marks their second cup final appearance of the season, having reached the Lancashire FA Challenge Cup Final earlier in April, where they missed out against Bolton Wanderers Women.
To reach the Design & Print Cup final, Stanley Women defeated higher tier opposition in the semi-final, FC United of Manchester Women, while they also enjoyed cup wins against Poulton Vics FC Ladies and FC St Helens Women, who finished first and second respectively in the North West Womens Regional League - Division One South, the same tier which Stanley Women currently play in.
Earlier in the tournament and Stanley Women secured impressive victories against Preston North End Women and Macclesfield FC Women.
It has been a season of remarkable achievement for Stanley Women, who finished second in the league, enjoyed a memorable run in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup, and have now reached two major cup finals.
