Veterans keep fit thanks to boxing club

A BOXING club has been helping veterans keep fit and foster friendships.

Clayton Amateur Boxing Club has been running a Fight Fit programme, specifically designed for veterans in the community.
The fully-funded programme has all veterans, regardless of any mental or physical disabilities, undergoing rigorous training in technique and cardio work, testing them mentally and physically while giving them a social outlet - all for free.
The funding came from various sources, including £1,750 from the Duchy of Lancaster, £5,000 from the Lancashire Integrated Care Board, and £4,973.60 from the Lancashire Culture & Sport Fund alongside other generous community donations.
