Skills scheme can ‘unlock potential’

HYNDBURN Council's business and growth boss Cllr Scott Brerton has welcomed the government's new Construction Skills Initiative.

The programme, which includes over £130million in funding to support more than 40,000 industry placements, aims to tackle the UK's construction skills shortage by partnering Jobcentres with the construction industry.
The initiative will provide tailored placements and on-the-job training for roles ranging from bricklayers to project managers.
