CHURCH & Oswaldtwist-le's one-run defeat to Colne at The Horsfield saw them slip from second to third in the JW Lees Senior Division 2.

The home side won the toss and batted first, making 235-6, Geeth Kumara with the out standing innings for them, 111.

Craig Fergusson took 4-72 for Church and then opened the visitors' reply with an innings of 42. Adam Hewitt top-scored with 85 while Kelan Florentine hit 44, but Church fell agonisingly short at 234-9.

The loss means Church are one point behind Enfield with the two sides set to do battle in this weekend's round of fixtures at Dill Hall Lane.

Great Harwood claimed local bragging rights with a comfortable win against visitors Accrington at Cliffe Park.

Accrington won the toss and fielded first, GH making 194-7 from their 50 overs.

Opener Alex Kennedy hit 45 and Thikshila De Silva 66.
