Accrington fall foul of title challengers

The visitors' captain Jurie Snyman won the toss and opted to field first, a decision he would come to rue as Enfield openers Lewis Wright, 78, and Alfie Cook, 84no, put on 130 before Wright fell, bowled by Jacob Clarke. Pramod Maduwantha came in and hit 60 from 47 deliveries to help take the total to 245-1 from Enfield's 50 overs.

In response, Accrington could only manage 117-6, having been set a revised target of 182. Emile Haratbar top-scored for them with an unbeaten 34.

The win left Enfield five point off the leaders and four points behind Church & Oswaldtwistle, who enjoyed a five-wicket win as they entertained Rishton at the West End Ground.

Church won the toss and fielded first, restricting Rishton to 109. A Hussain, 26, K Grimshaw, 28 and L Eddleston, 18, best with the bat for the visitors.

L Ngoepe claimed 5-34 for Church.

Sam Holt's unbeaten 34 and R Hussain's 31no underpinned the Church reply as they won in the 25th over of their innings.

Church remain a point behind top side Greenmount, who won by six wickets at home against Nelson.

The home side fielded first after winning the toss, Nelson's Nabeel Ahmed going on to make 107, his knock including eight fours and six sixes. With Matthew Pettinger scoring a half century and Ben Breitmeyer contributing 37, Nelson managed a decent total of 246 all out from their 50 overs.

Set a revised target of 224 from 45 overs, Greenmount opener Jacques Snyman put on 98 for the first wicket with Tom Heaton, 28. Snyman stuck around to surpass Ahmed's achievements earlier in the day, scoring 136 from just 85 balls with no less than 18 fours and two sixes.
