Tuima taking his chance in new-look Chiefs pack
The Rugby Paper
|November 12, 2023
POWERHOUSE forward Rus Tuima believes Exeter director of rugby Rob Baxter is the perfect father figure for the new and youthful Chiefs that have surged to the summit of the Gallagher Premiership.
Having seen a glut of the club's 'Golden Generation' leave the Sandy Park nest in recent years, Baxter and his fellow coaches are now hard at work developing the Devon club's next intake of on-field talent.
Going back to their roots, similar to that of when they first got elevated into English rugby's top-flight over a decade ago, the template remains very much the same.
Baxter has often backed the ideology of 'if you're good enough, you're old enough' and so it has proved as his fledgling Class of 2023 have taken the new term by storm.
Impressive and notable victories over Saracens, Sale and Bristol have helped propel the Chiefs to the summit of the table an outcome which even Baxter and his players themselves admit is somewhat ahead of the game.
