Macqueen's Tigers are hungry for more

LEICESTER Tigers’ claimed their first victory of the season last Sunday as Vicky Macqueen’s newcomers broke their duck with a 22-19 win at Sale Sharks.

Macqueen’s side lost all three of their Allianz Cup pool stage encounters before losing their first seven Women’s Premiership outings, despite numerous encouraging displays.

However, Leah Bartlett’s 77th minute winner secured their first triumph in the big leagues prompting emotional scenes on the sidelines.

Macqueen, above, told The Rugby Paper: “There is a real core value of belief in the group and that’s what told in the end. In the last 15 minutes it was touch and go but we knew we could do it, just had to stay patient and confident in our process. The hunger and desire won it for us.

“It was vital we got that box ticked and we can move forward now. We’d been building and there was always belief that we were going to get there.”
