ENFIELD Town and Lewes are both looking forward to an incredible opportunity in the new season – playing European football!
The Isthmian Premier duo are joining regular participants, and inaugural winners, FC United in an expanded Fenix Trophy in 2023-24.
The competition, which launched a couple of years ago, brings together non-professional clubs across Europe. Those invited to take part usually have a story to tell – they may have been rebuilt and run by fans or undertake significant social and cultural projects.
Supporter-owned clubs Enfield Town, founded in 2001, and Lewes, who have been praised for their innovative approach, are two of a dozen teams taking part in the third instalment.
There are sides competing from ten countries, including Denmark, the Czech Republic, Poland, Finland and Wales. They have been split into four groups of three with the winners progressing to a final four stage.
Enfield Town chairman Paul Reed said: “We’re extremely thrilled and delighted to be making our debut in the Fenix Trophy this season.
