AT THE turn of the year, Matt Uggla harboured a dream to run a National League club, preferrably starting with the letter ‘Y’.

UGGLA DEAL IS FINALL-Y DONE

NATIONAL LEAGUE

It took some time coming to fruition, but finally that dream has come true – albeit 275 miles away from where he originally intended!

Businessman Uggla managed to get his feet under the boardroom table, albeit briefly, at Yeovil Town back in February but the deal collapsed two months into his tenure with the transaction not concluded as Yeovil’s relegation from the top flight was confirmed.

Now, under the banner of the 394 Sports Ltd group, alongside his mother Julie-Anne, Uggla has been unveiled as the new owner of National League York City having completed a 51% takeover of the club from Glen Henderson.

Henderson took over at York last summer in a deal which saw the Supporters’ Trust acquire the remaining 49%. But his relationship with the fans soon turned sour, especially after sacking popular boss John Askey just months after he led them to promotion from National League North.

As a result of the takeover, mother and son will become co-chairpeople and will join the board of directors alongside Supporters’ Trust members Alastair Smith and Mike Brown.
