SOUTHEND United continued their perfect start to the National League season by putting rivals Dagenham & Redbridge to the sword.
Goals from Harry Cardwell and Oli Coker resulted in the Shrimpers sealing all three points.
After a heavily impacted pre-season thanks to off-the-field issues, Southend boss Kevin Maher was delighted to see his side seal back-to-back victories.
He told The NLP: “It was a deserved win. The first-half performance was very, very good and we had control of the game almost from the kick-off.
“Our first goal was brilliantly taken and I’m delighted with the overall result, along with the clean sheet, as well.
“We’re a close group, they work ever so hard. The least you want from your team is to put the effort in, and they do that every week.”
