A BUDDING young commentator will be taking the mic at Pride Park next season after five years as the voice of AFC Rushden & Diamonds.
Joseph McCormack, 21, will be an audio description commentator at Derby County next season, providing vivid insights to the Rams’ visually impaired fans.
Taking the mic at the nearly 33,000-seater Pride Park will be a stark change from McCormack’s usual surrounds of Hayden Road, where he keeps his listeners up to date with all the action on Radio Diamonds.
But McCormack believes he is more than ready for the step up thanks to the thousands of hours he has tirelessly dedicated to his craft as a volunteer.
“To be honest, I still can’t really believe it, it all happened so quickly,” he admitted.
“I am just really pleased to have impressed them enough to offer me the chance. It is no secret I have been wanting to get into the industry for a while and I think this is a really good foot in the door to do that.
