Seasiders resign from NPL
MARSKE United are no longer a Northern Premier League club after their financial battle to keep their season going fell short of its target - but departing boss Graeme Lee says their long-term survival is paramount.
The Seasiders have enjoyed a remarkable period of success after progressing into Step 3 for the first time in their history in 2022 after claiming the Northern League title for the second time in four seasons in 2018.
However, Marske revealed they needed to raise £120,000 to keep the club in business for the remainder of the season in a statement released last month following the departure of former chairman Mark Harkin and a delay in the completion of a takeover at Mount Pleasant.
Fundraising efforts were supported by former players, managers, supporters and a number of other Non-League clubs but their efforts fell short as the official confirmation of Marske's resignation from the league was released on Thursday morning.
