MARC WHITE'S call to go in as Dorking Wanderers' first-team coach came out of the blue
-

With Mark Beard going to Eastbourne Borough, my phone rang last Thursday with an opportunity to come across.
I am over the moon to get back in, especially at this level. It's a great chance to go into a different club and learn from Marc, see how someone else does it as well as have a bit of input to try and make the team better.
Everyone has obviously seen how they've flown up through the leagues in recent years. It's been a remarkable journey. And lots of people have been there for all of it. I was talking to some staff the other day and asked how long they'd been at the club-they've been involved since the Sussex County League days! It's a really progressive club with Marc obviously driving it as owner and manager. When you speak to him he's so passionate and positive about what's next. For me, it was a no brainer to get involved.
I loved my first experience of National League level with Aldershot.
At the time, first-team management was far from my mind.
I was out with my missus for a meal on a Saturday evening Mark Molesley left the club when I got a call at 10pm to go in for a meeting on the Monday.
The plan initially was to take our game against York City. We won that, then it was the next two. We won those so it was another three. It always felt day to-day-and, of course, eventually Tommy Widdrington came in-but once I'd had a taste I wanted more.
