IN FRONT of a bumper home crowd at the Lamb, Tamworth defeated promotion rivals Leiston and capitalised on Coalville's slip-up to retake top spot going into the final week of the season.
You could feel the nervous tension around the ground before kick-off and both sides made a tentative considered start as Tamworth enjoyed the majority of the play in the opening exchanges and Kyle Finn nearly drew first blood on 12 minutes but watched his shot from the right clip the top of Sam Donkin's crossbar.
The Staffordshire side did strike first when Eoin McKeown added his 16th of the season on 18 minutes, advancing down the left before cutting along the by-line and taking a step in field.
