Truth-telling comedian turns author to put world to rights
Meet comedian and political commentator Abi Roberts who was inspired by lockdown to write her memoirs that pack a punch. It’s a real Hot Banana!
He was very savvy; conservative verging on libertarian; she said in 2008, with the financial crash, that all the banks should have gone to the wall. She went on the Iraq war march, despite all her friends having fallen for the propaganda. She was a journalist; a very curious woman. She used to say to me, “always ask yourself, what’s wrong with this picture?”
So two close deaths, and then 2020 happened. I had what I call ‘Jenga grief’.
I think the procedures actually killed my husband — both the diagnosis and the chemotherapy. It was a really hard time, realising he could still be with us, but he was killed by the medical profession. Then my mum died, and then the ‘virus’ happened, and I was scared, watching things unfolding and being isolated.
