In today's competitive skill-based job market, within the context of a volatile geopolitical environment, how does an institute stand out? Outlook examines a legacy engineering institute vis-a-vis its placements

Well Placed!

Placement season is a pivotal milestone in every student's life. It is a time when lecture halls give way to interview rooms, and case studies are replaced by real-world challenges. Every waking moment of campus life culminates in this quest for an offer letter. By the end of it, one is forever changed, having made the transition from a student to a professional. And the force that empowers and drives this transition is each institute's placement systems, developed over time and implemented with enhancements year after year. IIT Madras has time and again proved how excellence is immune to changing trends. The institute's emphasis on holistic development, combining technical prowess with soft skills, has led to yet another successful recruitment season.

An Unmatched Legacy

Founded in 1969, IIT Madras was the third Indian Institute of Technology to be set up. It is also one of the eight public Institutes of Eminence in India, and since 2016, it has consistently ranked as the Best Engineering Institute in India according to the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF).

While it started with just 120 students, the institute today provides quality education to over 10,000 individuals! Over the past 66 years, its students have gone on to become global leaders in their respective fields. Its distinguished alumni include Infosys co-founder Kris Gopalakrishnan and University Grants Commission (UGC) chairperson M. Jagadesh Kumar.
