The Haryana Government is reshaping the education ecosystem through a blend of digital innovation, inclusivity, and employability-focused reforms

Making Students Future-Ready From Chalkboards To Smartboards

Over the past decade, Haryana has emerged as one of India’s most progressive states in education, reshaping its school, higher, and technical education systems through a blend of digital innovation, inclusivity, and employability-focused reforms. With smart campuses, digital classrooms, teacher training hubs and last-mile student connectivity, Haryana’s education model has evolved into a national benchmark.

Digital Transformation in Higher Education

Haryana’s higher education landscape has seen a dramatic shift towards digital learning. Through a centralised e-learning platform which has ushered in a paperless academic ecosystem, students now have access to 6.15 crore e-books, 3.23 lakh audio-video lectures, 23,000 course modules, over 5 lakh journals, and 55 digital newspapers.

The e-Granthalaya digital library has become a vital resource, complemented by 300 sign-language videos and 4,000 audio files for visually impaired learners. Initially launched during the pandemic, the system hs now been fully integrated into everyday teaching.

Haryana’s Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) in higher education stands at 34.8%, with female GER (39.1%) surpassing male GER (31.2%)—a rare achievement nationwide. This progress reflects the outcome of targeted efforts such as tuition fees waivers and the establishment of women-only colleges. The number of government colleges has increased from 105 in 2014 to 185 in 2025, including 31 for girls. The state now aims to push its GER beyond 50% by 2030, in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

To enhance faculty strength, 2,171 assistant professors have been appointed and approval has been sought for 2,424 more posts. Online training modules for principals and lecturers—developed in collaboration with Kurukshetra University and MDU, Rohtak—are helping in improving classroom quality across the state.
