Indian real estate embraces sustainable design, net-zero goals and eco-friendly innovation to shape resilient, future-ready urban landscapes.
As a major contributor to carbon emissions and resource use, the Indian real estate sector must do more than cut its footprint, it must rethink how cities grow and thrive. Amid global momentum around sustainability, ESG, and tech-driven change, Indian developers are aligning with net-zero goals, adopting green leases, and investing in LEED-certified buildings. “With strong corporate commitment and steady progress on sustainability goals, India is poised to set a global benchmark in green design and future-ready development,” says Anshuman Magazine, chairman & CEO, India, Southeast Asia, Middle East & Africa, CBRE.
OnWorld Environment Day (June 5, 2025), realty developers across the country reaffirmed their commitment to sustainable development.
Lodha Group offers a deeper look into its sustainability approach. “Palava City (Dombivli, Maharashtra) exemplifies our efforts — showing how urban planning, green infrastructure, and innovative technology can create a truly sustainable city,” says Aun Abdullah, head - sustainability, Lodha Group.
Godrej Properties' ESG efforts go beyond individual buildings. “We engage suppliers and contractors through workshops to align them with our sustainability vision, ensuring green practices throughout our value chain,” says Rohit Mohan, chief design and sustainability officer, Godrej Properties Ltd.
