EITHER/OR? BOTH, SAYS BJP
India Today

With Rajasthan going to the polls this year, W it continues to receive special attention from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

However, instead of offering overtly caste-specific inducements, the BJP is wooing communities through promises of development and gestures honouring their cultural and religious practices. On January 30, it was announced that Modi would inaugurate the Sohna-Dausa stretch of the Delhi Mumbai Expressway on February 12. If the PM does inaugurate it in Dausa, the venue won't be without significance: it was the Lok Sabha constituency that sent Congress leader Sachin Pilot to the Lok Sabha for the first
time, and his late father Rajesh Pilot for 14 years before that. It would also be Modi's second visit to Rajasthan within a fortnight. His outreach is not limited to Pilot's Gujjar base, though-the attempt is to strike a balanced rapport with that caste group as well as the rival Meenas. Neither segment has much preferred to vote for the BJP.
