The Glasgow songwriter lays her heart bare on her latest album Bodega

Love, Loss And Lizzie

LIZZIE REID is in a nostalgic mood as she prepares to release her first new music in three years. Her Bodega EP is a true journey back in time to a teenage singer-songwriter honing her craft at the open mic nights in her native Glasgow, including one in the back room of the former South Street tapas bar whose name graces its cover.

"It has always felt weird to me, as more time has passed, that these songs were never released, but I didn't have a following at that point, beyond family and friends," she explains.

"I realised there's going to come a time when I don't connect with them much any more, just because of how old they are, so I wanted them to have their moment before they became too distant and disconnected from who I am."

The mood conjured by the five songs that make up Bodega won't be a huge surprise to anyone who has followed Lizzie's career through critically acclaimed 2021 debut Cubicle and its 2022 followup, Mooching.

Hers are gentle, contemplative songs sung with the whole heart, folk-inspired compositions given a contemporary voice in tales of love, loss and self-acceptance.
