Prestige heads to Bangkok for Tiffany & Co's first exhibition in Thailand, and learns more about the house's 188-year legacy through the creative lens of one of its most prominent former designers, Jean Schlumberger.

“A Schlumberger lights up the whole room!” once said Diana Vreeland of a brooch that she had commissioned the renowned designer Jean Schlumberger to design. A celebrated style icon and magazine editor, the late Vreeland was also one of Schlumberger's earliest champions. Returning to her declaration: If one Schlumberger creation can light up the whole room, imagine having more than 50 of these precious pieces in one space.
That was exactly what took place in Bangkok recently at Legendary Legacy, the first exhibition by Tiffany & Co to be held in Thailand. Presented from Aug 21 to Sept 7 at One Bangkok - a year-old integrated development - the exhibition put the spotlight on Tiffany's nearly two-century legacy, with a focus on the works of Schlumberger, one of the house's most prominent designers.
One of only four jewellers that Tiffany has allowed to sign their work, Schlumberger worked for the American brand from 1956 until the late 1970s. The artist and designer was best known for creating Tiffany's Bird on a Rock brooch, although he was also renowned for his whimsical and surrealistic creations, many of which were inspired by the natural world.

WHOLLY TRINITY
Sensation- or thrill-seeking describes the search for experiences or feelings that are varied, novel and intense. It's something that many people today are mired in, as we figure out our tastes, and test our limits, by experimenting with new experiences. It's not always associated with risk-taking activity, but in the Venn diagram of \"exciting experiences\" and \"risky activities\", there's certainly plenty of overlap.

A LONGEVITY GUIDE
At the well-matured age of 270, Vacheron Constantin has seen and weathered it all. The secret to its long-lived success is to refine its best creations, both in aesthetic and technical design. The latest Overseas Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin references 4300V-220, at just 8.1mm thick and available in white and rose gold cases and bracelets, epitomise this philosophy. The Overseas is a descendant of the Ref. 222, carefully edited and developed for a contemporary style, while the movement that drives it, the Geneva Seal-certified calibre 1120 QP, has a 40-year record of precision timekeeping even with its leisurely 2.75Hz frequency. In a tone-on-tone rose gold option, or polished white gold with a rich burgundy dial (and matching textured rubber strap), the Genevan watchmaker demonstrates the value of taking things slow and steady.

SANGIOVESE REDEFINED
For years, the qualities that made Chianti Classico distinct also kept it in the shadow of bolder, fleshier Tuscan wines. Today, writes Aldo Fiordelli in JamesSuckling.com's 2025 Tasting Report, what was formerly perceived as a shortcoming is now its defining strength.

ABOVE AND BEYOND
Two decades ago, Banyan Group was among the first international names to put Yunnan on the luxury traveller's map. Its debut in the Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture turned heads for transforming humble Tibetan farmhouses into the soulful hideaway that is now Banyan Tree Ringha (pictured). A year later, Banyan Tree Lijiang, adjacent to the Unesco World Heritage-listed Old Town of Lijiang, opened. Showcasing spectacular views of the snow-dusted Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, it set the standard in luxury travel with gracefully appointed villas nestled among tranquil pools and willow-lined pathways. Over the years, the Banyan Group's pioneering foothold has blossomed into a network of 36 hotels across five brands, including 17 Banyan Tree properties.
