ERNIE PUTS HER GENERAL WASTE BIN OUT ONCE A YEAR!

Mum of two Ernie Harbott, Australia’s self-professed composting queen, loves seeing people’s reactions whenever she tells them she only puts her red general waste bin out once a year.

“My bin was collected on January 1, 2024. The next time I put it out was the first week of December,” Ernie, from Singleton, NSW, tells New Idea.

By making extra tweaks to their already impressive recycling efforts, Ernie’s household has become almost entirely free of landfill waste.
