Alan Alda and the M*A*S*H cast have shared warm tributes to their dear friend and colleague, Loretta Swit, following her death.

Beloved for playing Major Margaret 'Hot Lips' Houlihan on the hit army medical series, Loretta passed away from natural causes on May 30 at her New York City home. She was 87.

"[She] was a supremely talented actor," Alan, 89, posted on social media. He added that Loretta richly "deserved" the 10 Emmy nominations – and two wins – she received for playing Hot Lips, but added, "More than acting her part, she created it."
