THE Dartmoor Pony Heritage Trust (DPHT) is launching a passport scheme this autumn in an effort to ensure the survival of the dwindling numbers of ponies that roam the moor and form such an integral part of the local culture.

Passports for ponies

Herds will be inspected by two Dartmoor Pony Society judges to ensure animals meet the true Dartmoor pony standard—the breed is classified as ‘at risk’ by the Rare Breeds Survival Trust.
