NEW MEMBERS FOR THE S&P 500

FOUR new stocks are joining the S&P 500 index, instantly becoming components in dozens of index funds that track the broad-market benchmark. That includes the Fidelity 500 and Vanguard 500 index funds, listed below. The two funds are the second- and third-largest mutual funds, combined boasting more than $1.3 trillion in assets. More than $4 trillion is invested in S&P 500 index funds (including mutual funds and exchange-traded funds), according to Morningstar Direct.
Interactive Brokers (symbol IBKR), an online broker with a global reach, joined the index on August 28, replacing Walgreens Boots Alliance. The struggling retail pharmacy chain was acquired by private-equity firm Sycamore Partners. S&P Dow Jones Indices later announced the additions of AppLovin (APP), a mobile software application firm; Robinhood Markets (HOOD), another online broker, popular with individual investors; and Emcor Group (EME), a construction and engineering concern.
