After a false start with the colour scheme, Sharon Scoppie found her style by embracing a mix of rich greens, natural woods and contemporary accessories

'I promised myself I'd live here one day'

Sharon Scoppie and her husband, Richard, bought their house primarily for the amazing views of the Welsh countryside, but they also loved the double-fronted aspect and the few period features that were still in place.

The couple were renting locally and looking for their first home to buy together. After initially seeing the interior of the house when she came to collect some secondhand furniture, Sharon fell in love with the place and said to herself she would live there one day. “The property eventually came onto the market and we jumped at the chance to buy it, but it was a massive project as it hadn’t been updated for decades,’ explains Sharon.

As well as new windows, plumbing and electrics, the bathroom required a complete refit, and all the rooms were crying out to be redecorated. The downstairs floorplan also needed a rethink as there was no kitchen to speak of, just a small sink area.

WE ARE Sharon Scoppie, 42, a sales and marketing manager, and I live here with my husband Richard, 50, a project manager.

OUR HOME IS a four-bedroom detached Victorian house in Conwy, North Wales, and we moved here in July 2018. You can see more of my home on Instagram @renovating_cartrefle.

MY STYLE starts with a neutral base, interjected with rich colours. It's rustic, with a modern edge from vintage and contemporary accessories.

MY FAVOURITE ROOM IS the pantry with the leopard print mural.

MY BEST BARGAIN was the bedroom shelves, made from leftover floorboards.
