How to... keep your bathroom squeaky clean

I live in a hard water area and struggle to clean all the limescale. What can I do?

Laura Mountford, AKA @lauracleanaholic, is a cleaning content creator, podcaster and author. She recommends...

'Whether it's your shower screen, taps, the toilet bowl, or all of these, tackling the dreaded limescale will make your bathroom sparkle. Viakal is my favourite tried-and-tested product for removing limescale effectively with minimal effort, and I absolutely love the fresh scent.

For showers, spritz Viakal onto the screen and scrub. An electric scrubber makes this job really easy. I then use a window vac to suck up the excess foam, and then wipe with a microfibre cloth for glass.

Limescale in the toilet bowl can look really unpleasant. I use a pumice stone with a long handle specifically designed for cleaning the toilet. You can prevent limescale in the bowl by regularly using a toilet cleaner that has limescale removal, like Harpic's 10x limescale removal toilet gel. You can also deep clean your toilet using a foam cleaner such as Dr Beckmann's Power-Foaming toilet cleaner once a week.

Removing limescale from your taps is much easier with a Limey limescale removal gadget. Simply fill with Viakal liquid and attach it to the tap. Leave for an hour or so to work its magic, rinse and then wipe with a microfibre cloth.'

Is it true that your toothbrush is dirtier than your toilet seat? What else should I be worried about?
