DESIGN GEMS MAKE ONE ATLANTA HOME SPARKLE WITH SOPHISTICATION

- ELLA SCHULTE

Rock Solid

You could say this design project got off to a rocky start. After all, one of the clients of Atlanta-based design team Angela Means and Danielle Carney earned a degree in geology and built her career in environmental science. Her affinity for the unbridled structure of the earth and its elements ran deep. That passion also pushed her to reinforce her love of nature and organic design during early meetings.

"Designing this project required a delicate balance," Means says. "The homeowner wanted it clean and fresh but warm and cozy at the same time."

Not only was the challenge accepted, but it was also tackled and finished with great success. Take the family room that welcomes inside the front door, for instance. With a soft and pale palette of blue, the space is plenty beautiful with attractive and quiet patterns, but it doesn't overwhelm. It basks in the refinement of tailored furniture that doesn't dare beg for attention. In fact, the light-flooded room is so warm and elegant that it provides a visual hug to all who linger there.
