When entrepreneurs Sean Tan and Michelle Ngiam thought about what they wanted in their dream family home, a memorable safari trip immediately sprang to mind.

A few years ago, the couple visited South Africa with one of their daughters, where they relished close encounters with wildlife and the grounding beauty of nature. That unforgettable journey became a cornerstone of their home renovation, brought to life by Jeremy Tan, founder of Renostud.io.

It also reflected the wellness philosophy of Meuraki, a wellness platform founded by Ngiam, which draws inspiration from meaningful experiences that nurture connection and well-being.

To create a characterful abode, the designer took time to understand the clients' personalities and found that, as a family of four, they were warm, adventurous, a little nostalgic and full of personality. “It was important that the space did not follow trends, but told their story in a way that felt authentic and personal,” shares the designer.

Tan, founder of Metelos Advisory, a consultancy specialising in strategy, leadership and risk management, values pragmatic, functional solutions. Meanwhile, the techpreneur Ngiam brings a focus on authenticity and balance that guided their family's approach to designing their home.
