Reno period 20 weeks
Home to A young couple
Reno budget $160K
After staying in multiple upscale hotels through their careers, this couple wanted to create a home where they could fully relax and detach from work. The pair, who both work in the eGaming industry, envisioned a warm and inviting home, sophisticated enough to host even their high-profile guests.
In their discussions with Justin Loh of The Interior Lab, they expressed their inclination towards the modern farmhouse and Scandinavian interior styles, as well as their affinity for mid-century modern furnishings. For the communal space, a bar counter and display cabinet for their alcohol collection was needed. As personal space is important to both, a home office for the husband and a walk-in wardrobe cum study for the missus were also added to the brief.
To meet the demand for a pared-back yet sophisticated aesthetic, their designer proposed a modern classic theme. Intricate French-inspired architectural features such as wall beading and French doors would create an opulent backdrop, contrasted with furnishings finished in organic elements like concrete and wood.
Previously tenanted, the closed layout of the apartment was a fortuitous fit with the couple who believe in properly separated spaces that serve specific functions. In the living and dining room, wall beading, crown molding, and French doors create a refined backdrop that exudes elegance and tranquillity.
