If you're feeling the chill, chances are that your pets are too. Thankfully there are easy ways to ensure their warmth as the winter weather hits
-
Winter is coming and as much as you want and need to stay warm and comfortable when the chill hits, so do your pets. Here are some things that you should keep in mind to help your pet during the colder months.
FURRY PROTECTION
It's easy to think that your dogs and cats do not get cold because their bodies are covered with fur. But don't forget that, like us, they are mammals and many of them are affected by the cold in the same way. There are, of course, exceptions to this depending on their breed. Siberian huskies and golden retrievers, for example, have a thick double coat. On the flip side, breeds like Chihuahuas and greyhounds have rather thin coats.
Despite their fur coats, which do provide a layer of protection and insulation, their extremities — tails, paws and ears - are even more vulnerable to the cold.
